You'll be in my Heart - Berry71bleu May Challenge!

Happy May Day!! This month is my turn to host the challenge over at Berry71bleu! I have centered my challenge around your favorite quote/poem/song about Moms. Here is my layout using my BEAUTIFUL Berry71bleu tag - I chose the song "You'll be in my Heart" from the Disney movie Tarzan.

Here are some quotes are songs for inspiration:

“All that I am or ever hope to be, I owe to my angel mother” ~ Abraham Lincoln

Mother, the ribbons of your love are woven around my heart.

“ A little girl, asked where her home was, replied, ‘where mother is’. “ ~ Keith Brooks

A mothers heart is a patch work of love.

“ A mothers happiness is like a beacon, lighting up the future but reflected also on the past in the guise of fond memories.” ~ Honore de Balzac

“ What are Raphael’s Madonna’s but the shadow of a mothers love, fixed in permanent outline forever?” ~ Thomas Wentworth Higginson

 Or if you prefer songs:

Coat of Many Colors – Dolly Parton

 Somebody’s Hero – Jamie O’Neal

I Hope You Dance – Lee Ann Womack

 Dear Mama – 2Pac

A song for Mama – Boyz II Men

I also did a tutorial on my Dusty Attic chipboard piece:

Serenity - Scraps of Darkness Round Robin

The newest kit from Scraps of Darkness " Sakurabana" is so versatile! Beautiful and dramatic Blacks and reds, stunning blues, and tranquil greens. I have always loved this picture of my daughter and thought the the Bo Bunny line "serenity" gave me a perfect title for this layout. The quote is:
"Serenity is not freedom from the storm, but peace amid the storm"

I found a paper piecing pattern for the butterfly in one of my old scrapbooking magazines.... I used glass glitter for the wings. The tree branches I made by cutting strips of dark brown paper, wetting them and twisting them tight. The "cherry blossoms" are just flowers punched with a little perfect pearls in the center.

This bird was included with the kit. I used some Lindy's color on it, then used lindy's embossing powder from a previous kit for the bird. Just really light on the powder.... the branch I painted with Tim Holtz crackle paint in vintage photo - then I rubbed darker brown ink when it was dry.

Thanks for taking a peek!

Key to my heart **Scraps of Darkness** March kit

Good evening all! I just love love love this ket from Scraps of Darkness -in addition to all the great Graphic 45 paper it included some fantastic paper from s.e.i. called field notes. They have brilliant blues and gold and silver foils on them..... here is my newest creation, Key to my heart:

Here are close ups of the two flower clusters.... I took the cream colored Petaloo flowers and colored them with some Lindys starburst, glimmer mist and perfect pearls in heirloom gold. I sprayed all the petaloo hydranga blossoms with gold shimmer. I used some Prima resist canvas from the February SOD kit - I wanted a lot of keys in this layout!

I also made a tag for the corner...

Here is a close up of the key cluster in the opposite corner:

Finally, the frame around the picture is actually a laser cut wood frame that I found at Michaels for 99 cents! I used Tim Holtz distress crackle paint in bronze on it!

Thanks for taking a peek and have an awesome night!

Good Morning and happy Monday! Here is my entry for the April Round Robin over at Scraps of Darkness...

My daughter took this photo of my husband trying out a guitar at the local music store. She edited it and I though it was absolutely beautiful!!!

Thespian

Hi friends! Once upon a time I was a thespian....I still love the theatre - but no longer have the time to participate the way I would love too.... These are photos of me my senior year of highschool - we did the show Hello Dolly! I played a small part - Mrs. Rose - and was in the chorus. I had an absolute blast! The March Scraps of Darkness kit with all the awesome Graphic 45 papers were just perfect for my "thespian" photos!

Here are some close ups - the flower cluster with an awesome jar, then I close up of Dolly's "business card" that she handed out on stage.... and finally a close up of the chipboard with the awesome embossing powder I found at my local stamp store.

Thanks for taking a peek - Happy scrapping! xx

The Wag of a Dogs Tail

This layout was made for two challenges over at Scraps of Darkness. The first is to cute; just scrapping a photo of a cute animal the second was for my week of the round robin. I followed Ashley's wonderful layout "Classic Gangsta Style" I used the February Victornia Kit.

This is my boy Sampson and his brother Koa one day at our house. When we let the big dogs play outside they both are at the window watching intently. The quote I journalled was; In the whole history of the world there is but one thing that money cannot buy - to wit the wag of a dogs tail. - That quote is at the start of Disney's Lady and the Tramp.

Here are some close ups:

I Am Woman - CSI Case#9 and OUAS

Good Morning all!!

I have been dying to do a layout over at CSI and was finally able to get one done!!! This layout is for Case #9 and the sketch I took from the challenge over at Once Upon A Sketch (which Berry71bleu is sponsering!)

9draft.png
Janury+1st.JPG.jpg

So the journalling challenge at OUAS was that it had to be "All about me" and over at CSI they had a choice of using a six word memoir. So I combined the two and came up with "Who am I? I am woman" Sometimes I think you need to let yourself know that you are appreciated and of the qualitites that make you, you. So here we are:

I am strong, I am flawed, I am open-minded, I am not perfect, I am willing to try, I am full of potential, I am loved, I am a mother, daughter, sister, aunt,  I am not believing the hype, I am fascinating, I am gifted..... I am woman. I think we all need to be reminded about this every once in a while.

Thanks for taking a peek!

You are my Sonshine

Jodie from my LSS - Sharin' Memories -  gave me a 12x12 piece of burlap she sells in her store and asked me to make a couple of projects with it, to show people what they can do with it. Here is that first project:

I used the January kit "Escape" from Scraps of Darkness - I think the burlap went perfectly with the browns in the paper. I had the laser cut sun for a while and thought to use the play on word "son" in the title.

This is a close up of the word "sonshine" I actually ran out of S's so I used the burlap to make one! I cut tiny circles and glued strands of burlap in a swirl then drew and S in glue and laid an additional burlap on that glue. It wasn't as easy as I thought it would be but I am happy with how it came out.

Here is a close up of the journaling:

A Moment in Time

This is a photo of my husbands grandpa. They were a fairly poor family in Hawai'i so we don't have many photos of them. I absolutely love this photo - the car, the way he is standing next to it - the ciggarette handing from his hand.....truly a great moment in time that is now a treasured keepsake for us.

Here is a close up of the clock - I used the Tim Holtz die and embossed it with "Stampendous" embossing powder in Peridot. I then glued it to a piece of Kaisercrafts Madame Boutique paper and embellished it with clock parts I got at a "junk" store. I have been dying to use them!

This layout was made with the February kit from Scraps of Darkness - "Victoriana" - I have just had a ball using all my heritage photos with it.

Diva

My grandmother was definitley a Diva. She bootleged liquor and ran from prohibition officers through Montana farms at night - she drove a Harley - She wore fur coats and had bling.. I have scapped this picture of her before but I just had to use it with the Scraps of Darkness February "Victoriana" kit. As soon as I saw the Kaisercraft paper with that lovely lady on it - I knew that I had to use this photo!

Here is a close up of the title tag which I inked and stamped. The title letters were inked then I used Tim Holtz crackle paint in Rock Candy. That totally cool feather trim is from an awesome store I found in New York called Tinsel Trading.... I thought that it helped to tie in the "Diva" theme!

The flower vine I made from the Prima Printery flowers and Maya Road Vintage flowers and some velvet leaves from Tinsel Trading. I then used spray adhesive and covered it with glittler. I am pretty happy with how it came out.

I have been dying to try and make one and I am very happy with how it came out. Here are a couple of pictures for now - more to come.

Phantom of the Opera is probably my favortie broadway show.... and also another tragic love story! At least if you side with the Phantom.... so here is my other entry for the Scarps of Darkness tragic love story challenge...

Here are a couple of close ups of the corners.... I used gesso on the dusty attic chippies then inked it and finally used embossing powder to get the affect...

I used embossing powder on the thickers I used for the title as well...

A Wonder of Love

Scraps of Darkness is having a challenge on "Tragic Love Stories".... so I did some research and never realized that the Taj Mahal was built by a greiving husband for his favorite wife after she died in childbirth. I thought that the November "Purple Haze" kit was perfect for this photo I found of the Taj Mahal. I lifted the great design from Bexta51's "Hanging with Cooper"....

Here is a close up of the story...
