This is a photo of Chloe on our last trip to Hawai'i ten years ago. We had just finished a hike and she had gotten into the habbit of putting flowers behind her ear - like a proper Hawaiian girl should - She looked so cute I had to take a picture - sweaty hair and all.
I used the Scraps of Darkness January "escape" kit along with a tutorial from Renea over at SOD for the AWESOME tissue paper background you can check out her tutorial here:

Here are a couple of close ups, the first is the flower cluster on the bottom - the flowers I colored with the Lindys mists/inks that came with the kit. The second is the chipboard sign that I painted first with white then used the mists and embossing powders on... You can also see the tissue background as well. Thanks for looking!

Scrap Space
No layout to post today... just some thoughts/comments on my scap space. I used to scrap in the dining room. This would drive my husband crazy... because I am not a neat scrapper. So we had made some shelves and a desk area along a wall in our bedroom, and I thought that would be enough space for scrapbooking. Well, maybe at the time with the supplies I had then. It seems as though scrapbooking stuff multiples on its own! Escpecially after Christmas. So I have been experimenting with different storage options and trying to clean our bedroom up - I've been taking photos and when I am complete - hopefully sometime next week - I will be sure to post them! Until then happy scrapping everyone!

Tropical Hawaiian Day
This is a photo of Chinaman's Hat on the winward side of the isalnd of Oahu. I have always thought that my husband really took a great picture of it but I have never scarpped it. As soon as I got my January kit from Scraps of Darkness I knew that I would finally be scrapping it!
Here is the close up on the bottom of the page. I used decorative sand and mod podge then I sprinked lindy's embossing powder for the green tones....

Grins and Giggles
Here is my first completed layout with the January Scraps of Darkness kit! This is a photo of my kids when they were 5 and 1. Were they ever that small? I figured the background and their aloha attire were perfect for this paper. The title I felt was appropriate - that's all they ever did at that age - Grin and Giggle.
Here is a close up of the title. I used sand, sea shells and coconut fiber from an old potpurri (did I spell that right?) set I had. The tiny tiny shells came with the kit.
Finally here are a couple of flowers that I colored with the awesome color option that came with the kit - They are from Lindys stamp gang OMG that is amazing stuff!!!

New Year Resolution!
Okay I know that it is late to start on my resolution but I figured that trying to start one on Jan 1st is just asking for failure. So I picked a random day to start! My resolution? Keep this blog up to date!!! I would really like to get my life a little more organized - my goal is to at least apply for a couple of design teams this year! I know that blogs are a big part of what they look for so that means I need to get this one in tip top shape! So over the next few days I will be adding layouts I have done over the past couple of months and hopefully some other fun and interesting things!! Stay tuned....

** Scraps of Darkness ** September Kit
So I finally finished two layouts using the amazing September Kit "Passages" from Scraps of Darkness. I am SO glad that I joined this kit club!
Here is me and my hubby I have been wanting to do a "green" layout and this is what I came up with....
This next layout is a photograph of my grandpa taken in the 40's during WWII. I have a ton of family heritage photos that I need to scrap and the passages kit is perfect for this!!
Here is a close up of the corner with the cork and buttons - I decided to burn the paper and the edge of the cork rather than inking it. I also used some of the ash from the paper to distress the folds as well.
Thanks for having a look!
